Food Concept Development

We develop food, beverage and ingredient concepts that deliver the intrinsic benefits and nutrition of natural produce.

Our food technologists and scientists have industry experience, understand commercial production and the efficiencies required in all aspects of product development including sourcing materials, processing, packaging and delivery.

Plant & Food Research works closely with food companies and scientists to:

  • Deliver concepts
  • Develop prototypes
  • Run pilot and commercial production trials
  • Develop new technologies and formulations
  • Optimise existing food processing methods.

We link our science teams to ensure the products deliver benefits, and provide scientific validation with a range of tests including human clinical trials.

We also jointly own, with the Ministry of Health, the New Zealand Food Composition Database, which we manage to ensure accurate provision of food composition information for product and diet analyses, Nutrition Information Panels, and marketing.
